Easter. The story of death and resurrection. Of renewal and hope. This Easter is different. This is an Easter when many of the outward paraphernalia of our lives have been taken away. Usually during Easter, the world talks of
sufferings, agonies and betrayals of the highest order.
In a suffering world of today, when we are going through the deepest darkness, I would say that Easter brings hope, a sense of renewal. Because Easter is a story where death does not say the last word: the story ends with Jesus’s resurrection, a miracle, a path forward. It is true, we all need to carry our own crosses; it is sometimes heavy, threatening to crush us, consume us under its burden. Yet, isn’t this also the time to reflect on the pain of the less fortunate ones? To be grateful for what we have, to slow down. On this Easter, as we stay indoors, let our homes and hearts be our new churches.
